A certificate program in design is a course offering license that the student has passed a test or reached a specific standard of knowledge. An interior design license may also be the name of an actual award. A design licenses may be offered by an institute of higher education. licenses are usually granted that a student has reached a standard of knowledge of a certain design subject, such as interior, fashion or graphic design. License programs can be completed even quicker than that of an associates degree.

A license, whether undergraduate or graduate,  Diplay an understanding of the general skills and creativity required in the field of interior design.
Of course, getting a license means attending college or university that meets accreditation standards. And even after an undergraduate or graduate license is finished, professionals may need to be licensed, and should stay attuned to consumer trends by attending continuing education courses.

Most states do not require a license to work as an interior designer, with only three states; DC, Florida and Nevada requiring mandatory license. Getting the required license  does however  the possibility of getting placed on a State list of Interior Designers. However, if you wish to gain an entry level job in the industry, a bachelor’s degree is recommended. Students who successfully attain a license or associate’s degree in interior design will usually be able to land a position as an assistant. Those with a bachelor’s degree may be able to receive an apprenticeship at a formal design firm. In 23 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto  Rico, the National Council holds a licensing exam for Interior Design Qualification. Applicants must have at least six years of combined education and work experience in the field of interior design to qualify for the exam. At least two years of that total must be post secondary education in interior design.

Interior design students should do their homework to determine how to get an interior design license, as certification/ license is required in many states throughout the U.S. It’s quite useful to know in which order steps should be taken to successfully complete a course of study along with the professional experience requirements.
